Counselling

The counselling center of the Institute for Population and Development was established in 2004, as the first counseling center for young people on the topic of sexual and reproductive health. Each year the number of young people who contact, write or visit the counselling center doubles by 50%.

Today, this counselling center is a part of the Friendly Center for Youth together with the Gynecological practice.

 

 

Specificities of the counselling center

  1. Counselling is conducted in three ways (by e-mail, by phone and arrival at the session(s)
  2. The rights of clients are respected and the ethical code of psychologists
  3. Counselling is confidential
  4. The counselling is primarily intended for young people, but parents, teachers, school counsellors and all others who have contact with youth issues are also welcome.
  5. The staff is professional, without prejudices and friendly towards young people
  6. The same treatment is provided for all young people, regardless of their gender, socio-economic situation, etc.
  7. The counselling center is one of the rare places where representatives of marginalized populations can be honored and/or respected as they are without prejudice

Types of counselling

    1. Individual counselling (one on one) one session lasts from 45 minutes to 60 minutes
    2. Group counselling (family counselling)
    3. Counselling of couples (heterosexual couples, homosexual couples, couples of friends, etc.)

Themes of counselling

  1. Sexuality and love
  2. Sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy, abortion and contraception
  3. HIV/AIDS (testing, counselling, therapy, living with HIV)
  4. Professional orientation
  5. Various types of violence
  6. Family problems
  7. Communication in relationship
  8. Sexual orientation
  9. Different types of addiction (drugs, alcohol, tobacco and other psychoactive substances)
  10. Examination situations
  11. Stress at work or faculty
  12. Physical activities and eating habits
These are just some of the questions based on which counselling is operating, and young people ask us numerous other questions
