Institute for Population and Development is seeking a responsible and motivated Project Manager to lead the implementation of a multi-year project focused on strengthening the health system and improving the quality of life of citizens in local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina. This project is funded by the FDFA in cooperation with the Embassy of the Swiss Government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing and coordinating project activities in line with project documentation and donor requirements (SDC). The role includes managing the project team, assigning tasks, monitoring activity implementation and ensuring efficient use of resources.
The Project Manager works closely with the organizational management to ensure effective and high-quality project implementation.
The role also serves as the focal point for communication with partners, institutions and SDC, ensuring coherent activities and focus on achieving project results.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and oversee the implementation of activities for the “Healthy Communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina” project.
- Manage the project team in Sarajevo and Banja Luka, coordinating tasks and deadlines.
- Prepare annual operational plans and budgets in line with project documentation.
- Collaborate with health institutions in BiH, partners, and the donor (SDC).
- Ensure transparent and efficient management of the project budget and resources.
- Participate in procurement processes and preparation of tender and consultancy documentation.
- Monitor project progress, analyze risks, and propose corrective actions.
- Report in accordance with IPD internal procedures and donor requirements.
- Ensure project visibility and quality communication within the team and with partners.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor implementation at local sites.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in social sciences, public health, health management, or a related field (MA preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
- Excellent knowledge of the health system and sector policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Experience in leading project teams and working in a collaborative environment.
- Strong understanding of the project cycle and project management tools.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, including presentation and writing skills.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- High professionalism, responsibility, and ability to work independently.
